What does therapy for Trauma and PTSD look like?

How it works to help support you!

Therapy focuses on helping individuals who have experienced traumatic events that have impacted the ways in which you move through the world around you. Therapy for trauma and PTSD, helps to reconnect you with body and mind that have been impacted by the things that have happened. Through addressing psychological distress that follows exposure to traumatic or stressful situations in a slow methodical pace to help you heal.

Trauma responses can vary greatly from person to person. Some may include but are not limited to: intense fear, emotional and physical numbness, or avoidance behaviours. The goal of therapy is to process these traumatic experiences to reduce the symptoms of distress that impact how we connect and move through life to restore a sense of normalcy through safety and relaxation. It is important to understand that trauma responses are natural protective response to things that happen to us and vary from person to person. Therapy provides a supportive environment to explore these responses and develop coping strategies aiming to understand ourselves and help recover to live life and move forward again.

Do You Struggle with Trauma and PTSD?

Life can feel overwhelming and can be isolated, disconnected and a lonely journey misunderstood by others around us. When trauma and PTSD are a part of your daily experience you may find yourself avoiding activities you once loved, feeling constantly on edge, feeling drained and lacking energy, or battling intrusive memories and thoughts that make it hard to move forward.
