Clinical Supervision Philosophy, Approach, & Understandings
My training and background form an integrative therapeutic lens that understands that change comes from within often inspired by our own capacity to be curious and seeking to understand and know. I work from a relational and systemic bottom-up approach to support all types of cultures, communities, orientations, physical bodies, and persons that are within known and unknown contexts with cultural humility.
I am trained in Perinatal Mental Health, Somatic EMDR and ISTP, ACT, structural/bowenian/contextual family systems trained, and an IFS framework informed parts work with focusing orientation.
My niche focus is in the following areas below:
- Chronic pain and illness
- Perinatal mental health
- Anxiety related disorders
- Trauma and Abuse
- Working with high level professionals, and those with regulations
- Familial relational and relationship dynamics on the individual level
Although I am not a couples, family or marriage therapist I have training, awareness and understanding to support, acknowledge, and respond to the competencies within these areas.
Authenticity is at the core of my work. Bringing and being your whole self is what matters most to any and every relationship. We can seek to connect on a level that is professional and supportive in nature. At times there may be distinct differences and through those differences learning within them and understanding each other is the goal and purpose to maintain and uphold the standards of practice and requirements of the CRPO.
Supervisors wear many hats some of which are and include but not limited to:
- Teaching
- Consulting
- Case study evaluation (breaking things down)
- Clinical case load oversight (depends on the needs of the supervisee and skill levels)
- Skill assessment and development
- Business guidance
- Meeting college requirements
- Meeting program specific or training specific requirements
- Competency skill training and support
- Mentorship in the field
- Navigating the personal/professional duality and impact
There are many ways supervisors might interact with and I seek to flexibly adjust to what your needs are within my roles and responsibility as a Supervisor. With this in mind I hold myself to the same standards. Audio, Video and Observation are part of the development of psychotherapists, I’ll show you recordings or permit live observations of my work available upon request for training purposes and supporting our working relationship. Additionally any information upon request for templates and documentations necessary to show how I work and best to guide and support. If withheld, there must be a valid reason, discussion, and understanding for the purpose of the Supervisee's growth and development and safety of the public or client.
