Peer Study Group Description

*This Study Group is not sponsored, associated, affiliated, or reflect views on behalf of the College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO)*

Overview:

Session 1: Introduction, Case Conceptualization & Approaches, Case Review
Session 2: Case Reviews
Session 3: Case Reviews
Session 4: Case Reviews
Session 5: Case Reviews
Session 6: Mindfulness Anxiety Approach & Case Review

There will be a rough outline of each meeting and then will each group will be co-created geared towards individual participants needs. What makes this group unique apart from others, is that it is facilitated by someone who has passed the exam in April 2022. This space offers equal opportunity for each participant to speak, process and contribute to this wonderful shared learning experience.

What makes this special is we will look at how to process, review the standards, ethics and language of the CRPO to help you identify and answer the CRPO questions to the best of your ability, no matter what model you come from! If you require more supervision regarding some topics, don't worry we will connect you with a supervisor who is well versed in the CRPO Standards of Practice and maintains a value in ethics in psychotherapeutic treatment.

Each case study is uniquely created to test your ability to recognize and apply Ethics and the CRPO Standards of Practice. New cases will be used for each iteration of the group.

Cases will be presented to work through the conceptualization approach and not simulations. Rather it will test your ability to effectively identify, process and apply your psychotherapeutic knowledge. This is a huge skill development not just applicable for the Registration Exam but for the Case Based Assessment (CBA) and your daily clinical work.

A closed group means that once registration for the available slots are filled then no new participants will be added and it will be consistent for the duration through the offered group sessions. This helps those in the groups connect, share their unique experiences and reduce the pressure through getting to know each other and supporting one another. It's a great way to connect and build a referral list of other therapists.

ADD-ON Post-Exam Debrief:

Investment: $75.00

Once you've completed your exam we will meet during 1:1 to debrief the exam experience. This 1-Hour post-exam debrief is a space where you can provide feedback from the groups, process your personal experience, and learn how to apply mindfulness as you await your results.

Refund Policy

If you can no longer make a group due to extenuating circumstances a full refund will take place at least 1 week before or the week of the group. Those on the waitlist will have first come, first serve.

No refund will be issued for missed / no-show sessions out of respect for the other group participants and the Peer Study Group Facilitator's time and efforts in preparing and running these groups.

Recordings may be provided upon request and based off of group rules consented to at the beginning of the groups.

There are no guarantees that you will pass the exam. However, I can guarantee that you will be presented with complex and unique cases designed to apply your skills and knowledge to support your preparation of this exam and your clinical work. Deepening the understandings of the CRPO's Standards of Practice in application to cases and clinical work.

Most persons who have completed these groups developed a referral network and connections lasting well beyond our time together. Previous attendees felt more confident, preparted, and competent to navigate the case conceptualization approach to the exam. Many are exposed to different situations that have deepened their understanding in different areas of practice with different populations.

These groups have not only helped other therapists prepare for the exam, but they have helped nurture skills that are used in daily clinical work further strengthening and preparing to do this work after the exam.

Practical and applicable to your practice.
